Inside Out Farmhouse

Lumber Made From Newspaper

Kranthout (Dutch for "newspaper wood") is a material made from rolled-up newspapers milled into planks. Developed by Mieke Meijer for design firm vij5, it looks just like the real thing (sans type of course) and can be drilled and sanded just like real wood. Via Inhabitat.

Happy Magic Water Park!

We all wondered what the Chinese Government would do with the magnificent buildings it created for the Beijing Olympics once the games were over, and we now have our answer. The famous aquatic center, complete with ETFE pillow exterior cladding, has been transformed into Happy Magic Water Park! With ten different indoor rides, a wave pool and gigantic jellyfish floating from the ceiling, this transformation is truly worthy of the building's award-winning design. Luise Valdes

Made entirely of found cardboard and pizza boxes, Don Lucho, aka Luise Valdes, constructed a complete life-size apartment complete with everyday household items such as dishes and toilet paper. Feels like a bizarre cartoon-world alternate reality. Via Inhabitat.

The Atherton Residence

This amazing home near San Francisco features solar photovoltaic panels, a solar hot water system, a radiant floor heating system, high fly-ash concrete, formaldehyde-free casework and denim insulation. But perhaps the coolest thing about this home is the fact that it's built on an existing pond, with large sliding glass doors that open up directly to the water, making you feel like you live on your own secluded boathouse. Bottle Village

Between 1956 and 1981, Tressa “Grandma” Prisbrey built Bottle Village using tens of thousands of bottles in mortar. The village is “an otherworld of shrines, wishing wells, walkways, random constructions, plus 15 life size structures all made from found objects". Grandmas rule. Via Inhabitat.

Bamboo Taxis

In order to curb the use of gas-powered motorcycles, Rustico Balderian, the mayor of Tabontabon in the Philippines, commissioned the construction of two taxis made from 90% bamboo. Not only are they hand-crafted from a renewable material and powered by coconut biodiesel, they're pretty darn good looking to boot! Via Inhabitat.

The product of collaboration between Mission Motors and Yves Béhar's Fuseproject, the Mission One is the world's fastest production electric motorcycle, designed to have a top speed of 150mph, with a range of around 150 miles and 100 lb-ft of torque from its high-energy lithium-ion battery.
