Czech-born artist BASK will headline a new exhibition, Saturday Night Special, at 323East Gallery in Detroit on Saturday, April 23. In conjunction with his exhibition, BASK will be releasing this new screen print at 1xRUN on April 18. Both appear to be pretty incredible...I'm seriously coveting this print at the moment.

Ben Wolf's Dormer House
This amazing installation/sculpture is the result of Brooklyn artist Ben Wolf visiting Detroit and unleashing his creative powers on the surrounding abandonment, collecting dormers from houses on the demolition list and attaching them to another to create an "architectural collage". Kevin Bauman
Kevin Bauman, whose photography has been featured here before, has a new series documenting Detroit at night.
Small Churches of the Motor City
This series of photographs of the small churches of Detroit really captures the sense of community that exists even when families face tough times.
Detroit as a Spectacle
Lately there seem to be quite a few artists coming out of the woodwork to use the dilapidated state of Detroit for their own purposes. As a society (and an art-buying market) it seems we all love to see it displayed as a source of pity and sensationalism by "documenting" the remnants like a car crash.
Among these many artists, however, there are some that are actually celebrating the beauty that was Detroit in its heyday by documenting it before it's gone forever. Two of these artists are Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre, their series "The ruins of Detroit" thankfully approaches the subject from a point of celebration rather than pity.
