Off the Hook II

Phone Booth Gallery in Long Beach, CA has put together "Off the Hook II", a group exhibition of mixed media artwork by artists from around the globe, exclusively viewable online. Exhibiting artists include such luminaries as previous TBP features Maikon Nery and Kareem Rizk, assembled to celebrate the gallery's first anniversary.

I'm Feeling California Today at The Best Part

At lunch today with a friend, I was enlightened to the work of San Francisco artist Alex Kopps. After some research into Alex's phenomenal work, I found a treasure trove of California-based artists who have all contributed to the benefit to fund Displacement, his upcoming film.

Today I will share some of these Cali-based artists by officially declaring October 8th "California Day" in the commonwealth of The Best Part; but first, enjoy the work of Alex Kopps.



Jeff Sketches Signage by the Seaside

Jeff Canham takes inspiration from the California seaside and creates amazing hand-painted signage, paintings, assemblages and prints that remind me of a sunny day in Sausalito selling seashells.





Profound Simplicity

Carlos Ramirez and Armando Lerma are The Date Farmers, two artists united to create these amazing paintings, collages and sculptures that reflect their Mexican-American heritage and California pop culture. With influences that vary from street murals and revolutionary posters to prison art and tattoos, The Date Farmers attack politics and pop culture from a street-level perspective.
