Do-Ho Suh in Venice

One of my favorite conceptual artists of all time, Do-Ho Suh has unveiled a preview of his collaboration with Seoul-based Suh architects for the 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale. The project places a 1:1 scale reproduction of the New York townhouse where he currently resides constructed entirely out of translucent nylon fabric directly above a composite image of the artist's original home in Korea, the New York townhouse facade, and a typical Venetian villa's facade. Once again exploring the idea of home, identity and place, this installation takes the idea to its next logical level with a stunning execution. Via Designboom.

Today we'll be learning about Do-Ho Suh

Do-Ho Suh is by no means an unknown in the fine art world, but many of my designer friends still may be unfamiliar with his work (as I was until recently). For the full background on this phenomenal conceptual thinker, visit Designboom for a recent interview, The Art:21 site for some slideshows and explanations of his work, and the Lehmann Maupin gallery for even further enlightenment.
