Steven Heller Book Giveaway

The fine folks at Allworth Press have been kind enough to sponsor a giveaway here at TBP, where they'll be giving away five copies of Steven Heller's new book "Pop: How Graphic Design Shapes Popular Culture". You have a pretty good chance of winning, and all you have to do is post a comment including either your email or a link to your own site, so don't slack! Read below for a description of the book, and good luck!

How do popular culture and graphic design influence one another? What are the goals of design? Are they to sell? To package? To entertain? The answers to these questions are complicated and are intimately tied to the effect design has on the overall culture. POP is the first book to analyze the role of graphic design in the broader culture, as well as the impact of design on other art and entertainment forms, from album covers to baseball stadiums. Author Steven Heller addresses such subjects as: pop icons; viral and guerilla advertising; political satire; the history of Interview, Monocle, Mad, and other magazines; illusionism and three-dimensional design; art for art’s sake; design vs. decoration; the return of hand lettering; art for the masses, and more.

No idea HOW that man gets out the number of books he does, I'd love to get my hands on this one though!

I'm starting my graduate courses with Steven Heller in the fall. This book could earn me some brownie points if I walk through the door holding it on the first day.
