Chris Ross

The amazing paintings of Chris Ross are described as "re-interpreted realities of various everyday figurative subjects". Via Design is Kinky.

I wonder how large these works are. I would love it if they were very large.

Are these, albeit excellent paintings, not incredibly similar to the style of Chloe Early?? Vinny, Dublin.

Although I see your point in their similarity, I'm not sure I totally understand your concern. People are a bit too obsessed with who looks like who and who is ripping off who. We're all inspired by each other and we can all coexist, no one's on trial here. In the words of Jim Jarmusch:

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination...And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to."

no concern, no concern at all! Really i just was passing comment. Love both artists. I have no qualms at all about the similarity but i suppose I was wondering were they connected in some way. I love Early's work, the figures existing in these maelstrom-like landscapes, and the likeness just struck me. Love the blog, its a daily fix for a bored lawyer! Vinny.

I'm not sure if they're connected, but i'm a fan of both as well. Thanks for reading, and for commenting! (glad to help with the boredom)
