I stumbled upon the work of Edward Bawden while researching artists who will be part of the London Transport Museum's upcoming show "The Art of the Poster: A Century of Design". His work includes everything from large-scale murals to posters, his paintings are part of the Tate's permanent collection and he even taught Graphic Design at the Royal College of Art. So you could say he's a decent artist...I'll definitely be looking further into his work. For now enjoy a few of my favorites:
