Keepin' it Calma in New York
Photographic Storytelling
Photographer Rune Guneriussen takes everyday household objects and places them in natural surroundings, beautifully creating life in the inanimate and telling clever stories at the same time.
The First of Many to Come...
Now that it's December, we're going to be seeing the next round of genius calendar designs coming from designers around the world. The first of many to come, a colorful one-page poster/calendar from Ghin.
The Best Parts of Thanksgiving
While we here at The Best Part will be relaxing with a gullet full of turkey until Monday, we urge our fellow Americans to enjoy their favorite traditions this Thanksgiving. A few of our favorites:
A Way to Walk Alone
Photographer Jeff Petry's project titled "A Way to Walk Alone" is simply stunning (like all his work), but I'm especially drawn to this specific series. Solitary humans in almost-surreal-they're-so-minimal landscapes and situations. Gorgeous!
Yes...The Louvre.
Philippe Apeloig has one of the most stunning portfolios of posters I've ever seen...along with a slew of other fantastic work. I guess that's why he's designing posters for the freaking Louvre.
All Work Copyright Copyright
Barcelona design studio Copyright has a number of very cool projects in their portfolio.
Phallic Obsession
Check out the incredibly original work of illustrator Allan Deas. Just be aware that some content may be unsuitable for the workplace (depending on your workplace, of course).
One Man's Trash...
Those of you in Seattle should definitely check out the newest show at Fifty24SEA, featuring the work of Greg Boudreau. Greg's insanely detailed stencil art is applied to salvaged wood, a link between old and new both aesthetically and literally.
That's What They Do...
I love these bus graphics created for a mobile library by They Graphics in Sweden.
Post-Graffiti Abstract Expressionism
Rene Gagnon calls himself a "Post-Graffiti Abstract Expressionist", but whatever you want to call it, his layered, gritty work is just plain beautiful.
Stamp Poster of the Day
As a fan of all things philatelistic, I love the new poster by designer Gavin Potenza documenting 20 of the great stamps of all time.
The Eternal Conundrum
The incredible ceramic work of Matthew Chambers begs the question: How did he do it?
A Little Bit of Everything
German designer Stefan Weyer has a wide variety of excellent work in his portfolio, ranging from print to illustration to type to motion graphics.
Do Not Feed the Ink Ape
Illustrator/Printmaker/All Around Amazing Artist Alec Thibodeau (aka Ink Ape) lives on plants and gleefully toils in Providence, Rhode Island.
