Natural Elegance
If Evan Hecox did a childrens' book...
While browsing Supermarket for possible blog subjects today, I found this gem. Illustrator Janice Jong draws whimsical cityscapes...I describe them as the "happier version of Evan Hecox".

Taking it to the Next Level
Los Angeles artist Dave Kinsey's paintings are mind-blowing...especially considering his work is conceived spontaneously on the spot. Be sure to check out the "Installation" section of his site to see his murals as well.

Welcome to the land of OZ
I love the simple, fun style of Italian illustrator Olimpia Zagnoli. Great use of line and color, and her hand-drawn type is amazing as well.

Street Meat and Broken Teeth
I'm loving the paintings of street/gallery artist Dan Witz. Moshpits and the city at night, what could be better?

If it's not Scottish, it's Crap!
Scottish artist Freya Cumming has some phenomenal prints in her portfolio.

Laser Envy
As co-publisher of Refill Magazine (host of the Refill Seven laser skate deck exhibition), Luca Ionescu is hardly an unknown. But many may not be familiar with his non-laser-engraved work with Like Minded Studio. As far as lettering and illustration go, his work is unmatched. See for yourself here.

Truisms Come to Chicago
As a fan of Jenny Holzer's work, I may have to make a special trip to Chicago for her upcoming exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Oct. 25 - Feb. 1. As a fellow southern Ohio native and Ohio University alum, I must say I'm a bit biased, but I don't think anyone would argue her impact on the current politically charged art world. Chi-town natives should make a special trip of their own today through Friday, when her work will be projected on the museum facade after dark.

Unnerving Beauty
The photographs in Asako Narahashi's series titled "Half awake and half asleep in the water" come from a point of view I seldom see in photography, that of a person bobbing in the ocean with only their head above water. There's something unnerving yet beautiful and peaceful about it all.

41 Smiles
Garrett Morin's illustrations have a carefree, fun style and it looks like he's having a great time creating work for clients like MTV, Zoo York, and Swindle. So much so, I counted 41 smiles in the work on his front page!

Into the Cityabyss
Polish artist Beata Szczecinska, aka Cityabyss, creates amazing illustration in which cityscapes and human form collide for an astonishing result.
