Remember your childhood Lite-Brite?? You could build and light such intricate forms as rectangles, squares, and maybe even a simple house with a sun shining above. Well, just as TV and computers have advanced leaps and bounds since Mork & Mindy and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, your pitiful childhood Lite-Brite would be tricked, beaten, and sold for parts by the monster that is the Luminodot.
This beast comes with an online template generator, 3500 peg capacity, LED backlighting and pre-programmed animated light sequences. It can also create, birth and feed its young through asexual reproduction, assassinate foreign warlord dictators and install democratic puppet governments, and call in sick for you so you can play with it all day.

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far away...
Paper Wars was a collaborative exhibition of the world's most popular weaponry, re-created in paper form and transformed into works of art. I say "was" because I am apparently late to the party, being that the exhibition closed in June. You can, however, still catch The Best Part(s) of the show on their site and imagine how cool it would've been to see that enormous 35mm anti-aircraft gun made out of paper.

You can begin cursing your genetics now.
Paris artist/illustrator Marguerite Sauvage has an ethereal, feminine style to her work, with light lines and washes of color capturing the movement and feeling of her subjects. The most incredible fact about her work, however, is that she is totally self-taught.
And my genetics made me good at reaching tall things......we all have our natural talents.

The best thing ever......for today.
Every once in a while, you find something a little different that gets you excited and inspired to create something of your own. Okay, that's every day, but today I'm really loving the canvas prints of Siggeir Hafsteinsson.

Killer rabbits, kitty gangs and smoke monsters
Italian photographer Andrea Galvani takes hauntingly beautiful pictures that look like stills from a psychological-thriller horror movie, including portraits of animals, humans, and what looks to be the smoke-monster-thing from LOST.
Wait...no...Andrea...don't go in there!

Design Crush
UK Creative agency Crush has a plethora of great work on their site, but I particularly love their cover design for The Bible. It says it all, with a simple design that even the most cynical of us have to admit is a witty solution. (Note: Yet another MadeThought portfolio presentation copycat...but can you blame them?)
Illin' Burger
Sarah Illenberger has updated her site with some new work, and in my opinion, it's her best yet.
She also has the best name ever for a hip-hop themed fast food joint.
I must be hungry today...
Staying within the category of burger and/or fast-food-themed names (seriously though, I didn't mean to do this...totally bizarre), I present to you the work of Jon Burgerman.
In this case, however, I think Burgerman is a name more befitting a superhero. UK criminal-types beware!

Stamp Design Envy
Kerry Roper of You Are Beautiful has a very cool style, merging the handmade and digital flawlessly.
And he designed a stamp...so, naturally I'm a fan.

Je m'appelle Antoine Stevenot.
And that's all I can understand on French designer Antoine Stevenot's site. Not that it matters, his work speaks for itself, and I get the feeling we're all going to be seeing a lot more of it in the years to come.

I know you're excited, but try to contain yourself.
Vasava Design & Communication Studio has posted some new work to their site, and of course it's amazing as usual.

Masters of Fine Arts
With media like burnt paper, laser-cut aluminum and silverpoint, artist Jane Masters attacks the drawing process from all angles.

Not that our leaders are doddering fools, but...
Sun Yuan and Peng Yu's "Old Person's Home" is an amazing installation featuring life-size elderly models, representing various cultures and religions, aimlessly wheeling around the space in motorized wheelchairs. A brilliant satirical take on world affairs and leadership.

Beautiful Decay
As a fan of all things abandoned and beautifully decrepit, I'm compelled to show you the photography (specifically her series' of abandoned buildings) of Autumn Marie. Enjoy!

At least it existed at all
Stefan Sagmeister's installation for the Droog Event "Urban Play" in Amsterdam is, like all things Sagmeister, phenomenal. Or should I say "was" phenomenal. It's life was short-lived (under 20 hours after completion due to attempted thievery and subsequent police destruction), but I guess that's the risk carried with all public art. By the way, the final product reads "Obsessions make my life worse and my work better."
